  • Re: Avid.com is in Japanese

I just ran into this problem today. There has been no change to my browser, or OS. On this page above, the selected country is United States, as desired. However, when I go to the homepage, or my user page, everything is in Chinese. This is particularly frustrating, because I am trying to renew my Protools...

  • Avid DVD - Adding Subtitles - Part 2

Unfortunately subtitles created within MC, using the SubCap Generator, cannot be easily imported into AvidDVD. If you want to work with subtitles in one or more languages and give the viewer the possibility of choosing which they want to have on-screen, AvidDVD offers a better solution. These 3 tutorials...

  • Expanding Library of Media Composer Tutorials

I am a relative newcomer to Media Composer (early 2008) and as I began to feel my way around I got the idea of documenting my adventures by creating short video tutorials, Avid had already a large number of excellent, professionally produced tutorials online. I learned very much from watching them. However...

  • Creating a "Freeze-Frame" in MC

Easy to do when you know how, but sometimes difficult for a newcomer to figure out! NB. When actually in the "Freeze-frame" pulldown menu, there are many more choices than I mention in this tutorial. For example you can choose "others" and specify an exact length for the created Freeze...

  • The SubCap Generator 2 - Exporting a subcap to AvidDVD

Having succeeded in entering Japanese text into the SubCap Generator, I began to wonder if I could export it easily and then import it into AvidDVD. That was not as easy as I had hoped for. However I did find a way to do it in the end. The method will work for subcaps in any language. Regards, Douglas

  • The SubCap Generator and Japanese Text

It was most out of curiosity that I tested the SubCap generator. Normally I add subtitles to my projects when authoring in Avid DVD. As my editing computer is running under Windows XP Pro, Japanese edition, I was surprised to see that there were problems with entering Japanese text. Here is how I solved...

  • Preventing MC from "hanging" when changing Languages in the Title Tool

I have seen threads started by users who have problems when using Title Tool or SubCaps. If they are working in more than one language and they try to change languages MC will quite often "hang". I recently received a tip from Mr. Egawa of Avid Technology in Japan about a setting in Windows...
