  • Re: Lost video when using Digital Cut

I go to the [output] tab, then to Digital Cut. We remote to a deck using Firewire. Destination tape is new, never recorded on. I mean that upon playback an entire second of footage is missing. Loss of footage is never at the same place when doing multiple digital cuts of the same sequence. I am pretty sure Windows update is turned off. No changes are

  • Lost video when using Digital Cut

Unfortunately, we're still using DV tape for most of our production (Small University). We have two identical editing computers running Media Composer 5.0.4 (HP Z400 Avid certified). We connect to a video recorder using a firewire connection and use a generic codec. Problem is when Digital cutting video out of MC5 we loose a second or so of media

  • New Nvidia driver

Anyone at Avid know if the new Nvidia video driver is going to be a problem for MC5 or later? Is there something I can do to update MC5 so it doesn't give me an error message about the driver not being approved for Media Composer?

  • Re: Video Resolution

Actually, disk space almost isn't an issue... I've got terabytes upon terabytes of storage space. What else should I be concerned with? Wouldn't 1:1 be the best for capture and effects?

  • Video Resolution

I'm very new to the editing arena and for the past year or so I've been concentrating on the very basics of editing. As I started to look into the finer details I began to question some of my choices. The first one I want to focus on is Video Resolution. When I open the Media Creation tool, I have a choice to set the video resolution on my capture

  • Avid MC 5 effects editor

I've done some searching, have found some turtorial videos and one published book but I'm still unable to find what I need. What I'm looking for is material that will explain every avid effect and how to manipulate it, including the title tool, in great detail. Is there a publication for maybe an earlier version that has the details I require

  • Error message confusion

I am running Media Composer 5 and our system was working perfectly yesterday, but today we are getting an error message and can not use the editing system at all. The error message we're getting is listed at this link: http://avid.force.com/pkb/LegacySearch?DocId=261789&ssdFilterCommunity15=1408&ssdFilterCommunity13=0&ssdFilterCommunity11

  • Re: What's causing this?

I've updated my system information as you requested. Hope that helps some. I've searched the knowledgebase and couldn't find anything related to this problem. We have two identical machines and taking our media to the second manchine allowed us to finish our project. The first machine has also recently been giving us another error, can't

  • What's causing this?

Assertion Failed: useFileHandle() File...\.\src\MXF\MXFDomainC.Line6532 Got this error while several minutes into capturing from a miniDV tape through firewire. It's happened three times in the past 30 minutes. Tried rebooting the machine with no luck (which seems to be what AVID is all about- luck) Can anyone help?
