  • Review Monitor

I just can't seem to figure this out. I'm using Avid MC 7.X and I want to use one of the display ports on my Quadro K2000 video board to display the playback video only. Just like you see on Avid's home page. I have a desktop monitor that I operate MC in and I want to wall mount a 40" display for full size video playback. I just can't

  • Export video settings

I seem to be having a user problem, but wanted to see if anyone would help me. I have been working on a 1920x1080 project that will eventually be distributed on DVD. For a review copy I am exporting the sequence, after applying a 16x9 reformat effect, as a Quicktime .mov file. I'm using custom format options set to 720x480, Size to Fit, Display

  • Re: TV scan line effect

It's been an interesting discussion, and I apologize. I did find that of the few BCC effects that did come with my copy of Avid Media Composer there is one called Scanline- don't know how I missed that before. Now I've attempted to use this effect and it's many adjustable parameters and I'm starting to close in on what I need. I'm

  • TV scan line effect

I did some searches here but didn't find an answer. I want to take some HD footage and apply an effect that will make it look like we're filming a video displayed on a TV and then fade it into the actual HD footage. I've seen this effect used often in movies (actually just saw it used in "The Martian"). I'd like to be able

  • Re: First new Icon I've seen, what does it mean?

That's great! Thank you for the quick reply. I've tried searching the documentation for Media Composer and couldn't find anything about Adapters. Where can I find more information about these and why they appear on some clips and not others. At least now I can turn them off so people aren't confused by them. Thanks again for all your

  • First new Icon I've seen, what does it mean?

We've updated to version 8.4 recently and when editing a sequence we've noticed a new icon that appears in the timeline. It also has a green or blue dot and allows us to render an effect, although we have not created an effect. We have taken identical footage created at the same time from an identical camera in a different project and the icon

  • Re: Title Tool template

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "all", but as I did mention, once I placed the template on the local drive of each machine (5 total, 3 running MC 7.0.4 and 2 running 8.2) the template became editable again. We're just using plane old Areil text and retangle boxes. Probably the most boring titles you've ever seen. Any other

  • Re: Title Tool template

That was my original thought too. When we tried using the template on the network it would not allow us to select the container the text was in to adjust the size. We also chouldn't change the size of the text and sometimes couldn't change the color. Once we put the template back on our system drive (C:) the template worked fine.

  • Title Tool template

We have four editing workstations connected to a shared storage system. We found that is a template is saved into a user made folder on the shared storage it becomes difficult to edit and use on other systems. Does Avid Media Composer require the templates to be located on the OS drive in order to function properly? If we were to need to copy templates

  • Ipad video into Media Composer?

I have a student that wanted to import a video from their Ipad into Avid Media Composer. First problem I noticed was that the student didn't hold the ipad in landscape position when filming (and I use the term filming loosly). Second, not thinking this was going to be too much of a problem, after importing the file we have no video. Audio plays
