  • Help needed on new hard drive set up

I have been using MC5 for a few years and have recently completed editing on my first feature film on it. Unfortunately, my hard drive just died and I need to transfer all the backup files to the new drive. It is very confusing for me as I don't know all the different files to deal with. Can someone tell me the best way to do this? Thank you

  • Re: Playback looks like soap opera

Sorry Jef, I was multitasking and got confused there. I burned a DVD (Standard Def) and when played on a few newer tv's some played it cimematically and others made it look like an interlaced video/soap opera look. I was wondering if I burned the DVD at a lower resolution, bit rate or which ever setting is necessary (don't know which setting

  • Re: Playback looks like soap opera

Thanks everyone for your input. The article was an eye opener. Regarding the "doesn't make sense" comment, please understand that I'm not looking for the DVD to adjust to anything. Instead, I was hoping to hear specs on choosing a lower resolution (i.e. 720 as apposed to 1080) when burning the DVD. As I have noticed in the past that

  • Playback looks like soap opera

Using MC5 I burned a DVD (shot in 1080p) using the MC5 "DVD one step" option. When I play it on certain televisions it looks great... very cinematic and movie-like. But on other televisions the film looks more like a soap opera or the "live" look. How can I burn the DVD so it retains the cinematic look on all tv's ?

  • Re: Can't stop Avid from using up gigs

Douglas, Thank you for your reply. I looked at the "Delete temp files everytime I exit" option and it was already checked off. When I burn a DVD I go into DVD One Step and press Ok. Then in a while the dvd burn option box comes up and I always check "Delete avid sonic files when done" option. I then press ok and the disk burns and

  • Can't stop Avid from using up gigs

I'm using MC5 and every time I burn a DVD using DVD one step it uses up about 10 Gigs of my hard drive. How can I stop this before it fills up my hard drive?

  • Please help with 16:9

I am using MC5 to burn a DVD. The picture keeps coming out slightly larger than the television screen, so it is cropped on all four sides. I thought that this was because I used the "native dimentions" option when outputting to DVD, but the size did not change at all when I switched to the "16:9" option. Does anyone know how to correct

  • Re: Can't burn 16:9 DVD

The best way to describe it is that the picture looks slightly larger than it should on the television. So all four edges are cropped. Like what you would get if you were to use the "zoom" option on your television, except that I have it playing in "normal" mode.
