Bump. 1 day of trial already lost. please help.

I also have the exact same problem as kamrat described. After chosing trial, the application just quits suddenly. Im on win xp pro sp3, and before that I had mc4 on same system. But reinstalling OS is not an option really. So any other solutions so far? Still unknown what is causing that problem?

Before uninstalling Media Composer 4, which files exactly should I backup, to keep all my settings, including keyboard settings, workspaces settings, timeline views and interface? And where are they located?

I have a little tip that makes it faster for me to edit: in Mouse Settings you can assign some frequently used function to 3rd button (which is a mouse wheel). For me it's red arrow, so I can quickly switch to segment mode and move some clips around, then click again and I'm out of segment mode. Saves some time. And if you have a mouse with
