• Re: MC just unregistered itself
William: Do you have any anti-virus and firewall software running concurrent with Avid? If so, shut it down and disconnect from the Internet whenever Avid is running.
Hi Larry, No. That's part of the problem I have with the current copy protection scheme. Oops! I almost started talking dongles! Sorry

  • MC just unregistered itself

I just installed a new raid drive. When I started MC, MC told me that my software was unregistered (it is registered ... or so I thought ... at least it USED to be registered!). Is this normal? Does everything need to be re-installed? Life is too short for that. Copy protection: OK for manufacturer; BAD for consumer.

  • Potential AVCHD solution: FFMedia Broadcast

I have yet to try this ... just too busy. But for those of you struggling with AVCHD here is the lead off paragraph for the FFMBC How To file: FFmpeg customized for broadcast and professional usage. What you can do with FFMBC: Import your files in Final Cut Pro or AVID Media Composer by Creating XDCAM HD422 files in .mov or .mxf Creating XDCAM IMX/D

Has anyone had a problem importing Canopus HQ 1920 x 1080 into MC 3.5?

  • Re: GetFinishedFrame Decompression Error in clip with error code 36
Hi, I haven't heard anything from anyone else in the forum... but so far from my experience it seem that sometimes a couple of frames reports corrupted and as long as you exclude those in the clip it will work as a workaround. MC doesn't seem to detect that and remove / clean those imported media files automatically

  • Re: Multicam with two AVCHD cameras and two HD tape cameras
What it really boils down to is bandwith. If you exceed the amount of bandwidth that multicam can handle, then it's going to stutter, stop, drop frames, etc. Right now I'm cutting a show that was shot on three dvcprohd cameras and 3 avchd cameras from canon. I had to bring in everything as DNxHD 36 in order

  • Multicam with two AVCHD cameras and two HD tape cameras

In the past I've had all sorts of problems when I attempted to use full HD from two AVCHD cameras and full HD from two HD tape cameras in multicam. The multicams are an hour or more in length. The AVCHD cameras are Canon Vixia HFS100 and the tape are a Canon HV10 and a Canon XHA1. I plan to use Upshift to convert the AVCHD files, but MC is able

  • Re: DV Capture Problem

I agree with the approach suggested by Andrew Action (oops, maybe that was Douglas) ... something like the motherboard manufacturers who allow you to speed up your system in bios ("normal," "fast," "turbo," and "crazy") If there was a switch where a person could shift between precise / accurate capture and "just

  • Re: Capture problems ;-/

JWRL is correct, of course, to say that if it works there is no point in a workaround ... the issue, though, is when it doesn't work.

  • Re: Capture problems ;-/

In my very limited experience I found Avid's capture tool to be frustrating (I'm using MC 3.5). HDVSplit worked like a charm though. Give it a shot.
