QT Reference files are a very fast way to export your sequences - or clips - to work with them using third party applications - such as squeeze, TMPGEnc, after effects a.s.o. using the "master" settings, you'll get two clips: one with an audio mixdown, an a second one, with the links to the originally media! this MOV is quiet small: normaly

a) if you take care, you won't lose your MC5 projects. to be shure, back them up onto a external drive, usb stick, ... b) another option would be to convert the AVCHD files with an external encoder. no need to update mc. if I would have to work just with one large file, I'ld choose this way. If you have to deal with a lot of them, and will continue

well don't you have to mix them according to ebu R 128 for your broadcaster? if you have to, I'ld let them create a stereo mixdown and use the audio grimm plugin "levelnorm". fast. simple. easy. you can't tweak and control very much with this plugin, but on the other hand, you can't make much mistakes....

what about the "normalize" audio suite effect?

are the file names sequentially? f.e. file1.jpg file2.jpg? avid might try to import them as one clip - 2 images will give you clip with a duration of 2 frames. to avoid this go to import -> options -> images -> deselect "autodetect sequentially numbered files"

question is: what kind of footage did you try to import and what were your import settings? if your footage has 601/709 levels, you need to set the corresponding value at the "options" settings during import.

what kind of media files / sequence do you use? what are your export settings? did you try to mixdown your video? sometimes damaged media files can cause strange errors. you may want to rebuild your media database.

i think 1080p50 isn't supported - even in mc 6.5. don't know wether the console command "IgnoreQTRate" will work, don't think so, as it's not an import. if you have the possibility to share a short clip, I'ld try to ama link with 6.5. schöne grüße - m.
