No problem. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Avid seems to be migrating MC away from the knind of NLE that I find useful. Their latest versions seem riddled with bugs, combined with this atrocious Application Manager. I'm just tired of problem chasing this app. And Resolve just works so so well...and MUCH faster at renders than MC...oh well

Keeping in mind that Media Composer, on my system, doesn't use the GTX1070, I've been really happy with it. I've been mostly grading and editting with DaVinci Resolve. Renders have shockingly been sped up. So, on that front, I'm very happy.

Sorry to add to the bad news, but, after installing MC 8.6.4, the App Manager started going crazy, adding multiple icons in the taskbar. I had to disable the appmanager.

Sorry to report the same problem is persisting. Everything functions normally, except the small green circle above the timeline randomly changes fromgreen to grey, then back again. Thanx Tomas, No, I'm on Win 7 SP1-64. After looking at some things other users did, I uninstalled media Composer, along with all remaining directories, except for "settings". I also cleared the Avid folders in the registry. Then I reinstalled 8.6.4. Everything seems to be working right, now.

Hi, thanx for the suggestion, but, I checked that one. I can hit "START" and BGS turns green for about 5 secs, then shuts down again. If I check the status of BGS, it says it has not been started, yet, it will render.

Beginning with the installation of the defunct v8.6.2, my Background Render Service is malfunctioning. I went thru v8.6.3; and, now v8.6.4 and the problem persists.
