• Mailing mini-DV tapes

Does one need to worry about x-rays or however they scan packages at the P.O. if sending mini-DV tape in the mail? Should I write Do Not Scan on the package, like I used to do for film? Or does it not even matter? Thanks... D

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'm glad to hear from you folks about these services because you go to geek sites and read recommendations from people who are into hacking and questionable freeware, so I wondered how safe they are. I knew about yousendit, but the file I need to send is over 100 mb, so I signed up for their free trial for teh

  • How to deliver end results???

Hi all, I've been creating videos for a friend of mine to get experience (and I believe it is working -- I think I'm getting better at shooting & editing). I usually upload them to google video and she embeds them in her site. That led to my making a video for someone else whom I don't know as well, and I am not interested in having
I don't think this is the place for those answers Dreamer. You relly need to consult with someone in the entertainment legal profession. I would think you just need a general release and waiver but it's best to go to someone who does this for a living.
Oh, yeah, I will go see a lawyer but in order to save

  • Film Rights

Hi all. A writer is letting me have the film rights to a short screenplay for free. I've been researching on the web, reading about contracts, and have another question about working with a writer. Basically, I want to do everything as professionally as possible, but this is a small project and I'm still a student, so I also want to keep things
If they are for print production, prepare yourself for a kickback from the printer. I can't count the number of ties a printer has called me and asked "Is this the highest resolution you have for these photos?".
Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the situation has come up for me again. • Getting rights to a screenplay?

There is a script for a short film I want to make. I don't want a partner, just the ability to use the screenplay and maybe get a rewrite or two. It's less than 10 pages. What kinds of rights do I need to ask for from a writer and what kind of contract do I draw up? Thanks, Dreamer D (Diane)
Dreamer, is there anything specific which you are dealing with on these projects that differs quite significantly from your school days? Camera equipment/microphone selection/editing software version and so on?
I just realized this might make a difference: school = mojo, me at home = no mojo (AXP Academic
Diane: In the future, when you're taking a feed off a sound console, during the set-up ask the board operator to send you test tone. Set the tone level at -20db on your camera's meter. Then, as long as the mix doesn't have overly large transient spikes and the mix ratios are good, you should be good to

Yeah, that line/mic thing is confusing, but I always double-check the manual before shooting. I have only done the "line into the board" thing once before using the Sony and it was great. Now I recall that the camera I used for these particular shoots was the Panasonic I mentioned, and the first time I used it, so I was unfamiliar, but I was
