Re: Most GPU-Power what is available
Bruno is incorrect on this point. MC does offer background rendering; it's an option on the Render dialog. However, when running in the background I don't know how much GPU processing is actually being used.
Depends on what effects that are used of course but between 40 and 80 % with a 4000 K card, Sapphire

Re: MPEG-2 files and how to work with them
I have used Squeeze for this when needed, the Pro version will create Avid MXF files / folders , just to drag the databasefile inside a bin and off you go.

Re: Capturing old dv tapes with 32 k audio
I tried that but the I got the same error message. I'm playing the dv tape on a Sony DSR 45 using firewire. I shut down the computer and I switched the output on the deck to 32k then turned it off and then everything on again.
Are you saying that you cannot switch to 32 khz in the audio setings / scrolldown

Close down computer , unmount / power off your I/O device , start computer. You should now have 32 khz selectable for fw capturings

Re: Avid crashing when playing thumbnails
You seem to have a system similar to mine, what about the media cache settings, they are very low by default, I have changed mine to 2000 - 1200 2000 - 1000 and also have the cache folder located on a fast media drive , allowed ram usage is 16 gb

Re: Media Composer 8.8.2 NOW AVAILABLE - 11 April 2017
thanks, yes, the matrox is the problem probably. I also get some serious glitches in the composer and client monitor when using realtime effects (Marquee Title). As far as I can see also caused by the matrox unit. I have to do some more serious testing... Michael
Not seen any glitches with Matrox
