I haven't incountered that, yet. Do you think this is new behavior? I can't imagine this has been around for long or I would think many would have reported it. Is there anything special about the drop shadow, e.g. softness or some other modifier. Pretty wierd that it gets the relative font size and position right but not the drop.

You need to set the time code sense menu to FC not Line then you won't be 1 frame off. On the 5500 it is menu A10. On the 500 decks there may not be this option it can be added with updated software and a board revision or swap. I had a 500 that didn't have the option and was told it needed a new board to have the option. Funny thing was the

This is a job for SuperCodec Man AKA Mr. Rynderman. I don't think Avid can add pulldown on an import. If you have access to Cinema Tools you could try a reconform to 29.97/59.94 and see what the resulting cadence. I've only used CT to conform 24.0 to 23.98 but I think it could work if it supports conform to 23.98. The term conform might be a

The expected cadence should be 2:3:2:3 although this is not your problem. If all else fails you could try using the console command "ignoreqtrate true" which will bring the imports in frame by frame. Then use a time warp to slow it down. I'm sure someone will come up with a better solution like using After Effects to add pulldown. FCP

In order to generate an OMF instead of an AFF I've had to switch the project to SD to export an OMF. Just guessing but does it make any difference if you switch the project to SD and then import the OMF? I don't know why that would make a difference but since that's how I had to export from an HD project I figured I'd throw it out.

What resolution are the clips?

Any chance there is a timewarp fit to fill on the shot? Nothing specific to 3.51 but I've seen that kind of behavior with the timewarp version of fit to fill. In cases where I've had that problem I render time warp effect and the cut happens as expected. Doubt this is what you've got but figured I'd throw it out.

I was thinking of the Nitris DX Bob which has only one sync input that has a loop. SN Classic is terminated and seperate sync inputs for SD and HD. Is the Sync DA terminated at its' input? If you have a composite waveform around try looking at the tri-level at the 2 or 1 field setting and reference the scope to house black burst. You can't see

Was the monitor sync cable part of a loop through the Nitris Bob? If so you might have found the issue. Tri-Level is very picky about termination as opposed to black burst. AJA Kona cards are especially dependant on proper termination for proper sync lock.

I've had a similar issue when the AEs have added a tape name to imported clips. Usually they would add a tape name to reflect which disk the import came from, I just checked and it is still possible to add a tape name to an imported QT on ver 3.1.2. Make sure there is no relinking going on to the imported media before the decompose. In my case the
