Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I recall this issue was very much linked to a specific MC version/s. In my case installing an updated version of Media Composer sorted out the issue. Perhaps the Avid folks present have another solution..?

Just a note that this issue has been resolved. I ran the installer from C: as advised and did not receive any errors again. Thanks for the advice everyone! Happy editing

Okay, I won't argue with that. But still wonder if I'm running a fully installed 2018.10 or if I'm missing a few pieces. I'm guessing I'm fine because I edited the whole day without any issues. If the doors and the steering wheel weren't bolted on properly I suppose Media Composer wouldn't have allowed me to take this car

Greetings all Since 2018.9 I've been getting odd missing file errors when installing new versions of Media Composer. I never had this with previous installs. If I worked with the transcoded clips, completed the project and took the media offline when we're done, how would I recreate that sequence again if I ever needed to? With AVCHD media I've always been able to just hook up the backup drive and link to the original camera media in the Source

The .mp4 clips simply will not relink to the transcoded media (anything coming in from the A7SII and GoPros seems to have this issue).
