The open market drives the evolution of this industry like all others...if Avid could sell MC at $25K they would be happy to do so.

It speaks volumes that we can have a spirted conversation without the decline into anarchy that ofter characterizes many forums in this industry. Clearly there has been a trend in software towards the subscription

This subscription model costs presents something of a quandry for those slowly bowing out. MC used to be a killer application, packaged with BCC, Squeeze, DVDitHD. Unprdictable and potentially costly changes in newly required hardware often prevent upgrading to the latest version. A bit less compelling, no longer a complete solution in a box.
