Sorry, I didn't see that you were in PAL land, the effect apeture only applies to NTSC projects. You might try using a PIP effect, using the crop feature, and setting the background to black. John

Very Simple but good to know trick I learned the other day. While Rendering an effect press the P key to change the display to percent completed, or press the T key to change display to Time Elapsed, and Time Remaining. John

What resolution is your source footage (dv, 1:1)? Check your Effects Apeture setting under General Settings. John

I would make the choice based on input and output options. DV25 & DV50 the frame size is 720x480. For the X:1 formats (1:1, 2:1, etc), the frame sizes are 720x486. DVD frame size is 720x480. I would use DV for firewire, and DVD input/output from the system. If my input or outputs were MOJO then I would capture at X:1 resolution. John
