• Re: Blackmagic Desktop Video and MC menu problem

i've opened a case with Blackmagic about this and the other issue I'm having with the SD output to a client monitor. Supplied them with information and just waiting to hear back from them. As soon as I do, I will update everyone.
Thanks Mtahir, useful to know but I think I will stick with 12.4 for now, since there is nothing that later versions add to my BMD device.
No problem. :)
What is the 'soft link' trick you used, Mtahir?
Go to this site and download 'Link Shell Extension': https://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html Once installed, it should appear in your context menu (right click). 1. Go to 'C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design' 2
12.4.2. has not solved the issue, since it still creates a Blackmagic Desktop Video folder, contrary to what BMD say. Reverting to 12.4, resolves the issue. Deinstall later drivers and delte any DV folders first.
I'm using 12.4.2. I create a soft link called 'Desktop Video' which links to 'Blackmagic
Did you try HDMI, for Avid?
Yes, I just tested it and it works under HDMI with my dual input (analog/HDMI) monitor. The aspect ratio is correct when scrubbing or playing. But... that still doesn't explain why, when using PAL or NTSC, interlaced or progressive, 4:3 or 16:9, it works perfectly with Resolve
Not 100% sure this is the culprit, but I'd definitely give it a go to see if anything changes. I know it says SDI output and 1080p/2K, but still. For instance, on my Decklink Mini Monitor, it does also affect the HDMI output signal.
Unfortunately, I don't have those SDI options. My card has 2 HDMI
So, what happens if you toggle the output to 25PsF anyway? I'm 90% sure that's the issue here. I don't think any monitor will accept 25P (non-sF) over analog inputs. Note that even traditional HDCAM decks sent out SD downconversions as PsF, not P.
I don't have a 25PsF option anywhere as
FWIW With a Widows 10 computer here the last BM Desktop Video I installed was in July 2019. All the MC versions from that date forward including 2022.12 have just worked as expected. I have not had any isues with BM hardware or software either. There is a possibility that creating a new user settings in MC might
Hi Mtahir, if you look in C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\ you may have 2 folders: 1, Desktop Video and the other Blackmagic Desktop video. Within either there should be another folder, Avid Support. And yet again, with that folder should be OpenIO_Blackmagic.acf. Make sure this file is in your AVX2 top folder. 12

Thanks for the replies. One is a Marshall PAL/NTSC 4:3 monitor with analog BNC inputs/outputs and the other monitor allows analog PAL/NTSC (BNC) inputs, from composite to component, and a separate HDMI input. The monitor also allows aspect ratio switching on either set of inputs. I'm only using the Composite Video/S-Video outputs from the Intensity
