Mystery solved, for anybody who's the least bit interested: I finally did a wipe of my hard drive, and re-intallled the entire OS and all my apps from scratch. Seriously. I've now rolled back to MC 8.8.0, and it's still not working. I've swapped keyboards. Still not working. I've upgraded to 10.12.5. Still not working. WTF!?! This is making Media Composer basically unusable. Anybody have a clue what the hell could be going on here?

If I'm not mistaken, you could also put the file on a drive by itself (in the proper MXF media file folder) and then use media tool to look at the file, no?

I'm sorry I don't have a solution for your problem, but I do have a feeling it's not the software that isn't supporting FW. I think it's probably a driver, or chipset issue with your current system. In the day, Avid was pretty specific about what FW chipset would work with their Adrenaline and Mojo devices. Perhaps a different FW

This is what I've been trying. I didn't know you could even do it thru the application manager. It still isn't working, so maybe I'll try the app manager and see if that does work.
