I've had pretty solid luck with old versions of Avid (8.3 - circa 2014) up through MacOS Sierra (10.12). You can get an old Mac Pro to install and run Sierra using DOSDUDE1's (http://dosdude1.com/software.html) patch tool. I've tested this on a bunch of MacPro 2008 cheese graters, and 2012 iMacs.
