There was/is Medialog, or something like that, which comes with MC. The problem is it can only be used with a deck with RS-424 connection. Maybe it is time for developing a new version for a file based workflow.

The tool Media Harmony is also a very interesting solution. A VFS to Samba which allow You to share Avid media files on a Samba-server (Linux-server emulation a Windows fileserver). This is a software I have asked for.

1. Depends what You mean with processing power. Both Nitris DX and Mojo DX do some video centric trix for MC, such as scaling video. 2. With Mojo DX, the CPU will trnascoding the incoming HD-SDI to DNxHD. With Nitris DX, the incoming HD-SDI is transcoding in the box without any use of the CPU.

Agree, I is about attitude. In the past, Avid has released new updates every twice month, mostly bugfix but some feature they do not finish in time. This is a attitude that the customers need bugfree software. Also, the long list in the readme about bugs, fixed and outstanding issues, is the attitude of a company who develop software for time critical

It is a very expensive solution compare to what Adobe included in Premiere Pro. I understand that Interplay and wan browsing has its market niche, but for most of us, it is an overpowered product. I think Avid editors also need a simpler solution for these type of browsing, just as the pdf-preview in Premiere Pro.

I think Avid will never qualify Core i7 for MC. This because Avid qualifies Workstations and these use E3500 and E5500, which is the Xenon version of Core i7. As for OS, Vista is supported and if You buy Vista today, you often got upgrade rigths to W7. It is difficult to tell then Avid will qualify W7. It depends on how much Microsoft has change in

Which format are You editing in? PAL, NTSC? DV, HDV or? Atleast DV-PAL is tricky about field order.
