• Timeline Setting display "Show Effect Contents"

Jumped a few versions recently. Currently on 2021.9 I'm missing the Timeline Display option "Show Effect Contents" Is it a bug that it's not there or has it been removed permanently? Seems to still be in this versions User Guide It seemed to be a bug in 2019.7: Bug Number: MCDEV-11146. Removed Show Position and Show Effect Contents

  • Re: Maintaining Resize Information When Exporting AAF to Resolve

I did some tests sending Avid AAFs to Resolve (the first half of roundtripping) just to get my head around the difference for Resolve of receiving sizing information from FrameFlex versus a filter (3DWarp etc.) I got a UHD clip and cut it into a HD Sequence (common formatting for me) multiple times. There was no Frameflex action in the source clp. I

  • Re: Error: "..what:AccessViolation - no RTTI data!"

We've had RTTI errors on v 8.8.x and found moving the nablet folder out of the AVX folder (with Media Composer closed) works. nablet lives here:c :\Program Files\Avid\AVX2_Plug-ins\AMA\nablet It would be interesting if those with the RTTI error and later MC versions could try that for a day or two and see if it makes a difference.

  • Re: Can MC export interlaced 1080i25 XDCAM?

We finish most everything in progressive projects. To create the 1080i50 XDCAM deliverable, I just change the existing Project's FORMAT from 1080p25 to 1080i50 and do the export. Then switch back to 1080p25 when finished. The exported file always reads as 1080i format and clients are happy!

  • Re: Requirements for AS-11 export

Solved the problem in my original post. Long story short, it was a cross-platform issue. We're moving from all Macs to some PCs. Because I was exporting a TV series, where almost all the metadata was the same, I'd copied my profiles from a PC to a Mac, so I had most of the metadata ready. As the original Shim is stored in the profile, the Macs

Yes, "doing everything right" I feel. We have 2 Symphony suites and we're exporting from there. Because I've got a full season to get out, I was trying some other suites; ones that aren't Symphony. Installed everything on other suites; AS-11 Templates and even copied over the AMA Export Templates. Get on a Symphony with one episode

  • Requirements for AS-11 export

Successfully been exporting all our AS-11 files from several Mac & PC Media Composers with Symphony option (various versions up to 8.8.x) Tried doing some on other Media Composers without Symphony and they all fail (won't start at all.) Am I to assume that writing AS-11 files can only be done from Symphonies?

  • Re: Problem linking a renamed MXF file.
...I did try deleting the linked master clip and relinking - multiple time. Once, when I did this, the new linked clip actually showed the original file name from before the rename!!. Jef
Ah! That jogged my memory. I THINK that you need to delete the AMA Database. I'm not near a system at the moment, to be able

As you didn't mention it specifically, I have to ask, did you delete the linked file from your Bin and try a new linking process? I've had similar issues to that same process (using linking to check an exported file) and deleting the link and linking anew worked for me.

  • Re: Adding Mac Workstations

Be mindful of the small differences between Media Composer on Mac and PC. One of the main issues is not having consistent and fault-free titling between the two. Usually because of the different way the two platforms handle fonts. This one is a headache for us, where we do titling on all edit stations and share Projects across the two platforms.
