  • Re: Bin compatibility MC 2018 vs MC 2020

I am having the exact same issue, with some added info that may help: I am on a team with 2 assistants and one other editor (4 of us altogether). We are all working remotely. We all receive master clip bins (with fully synced audio) and subclip bins from our post house in the morning. These bins are created in Avid 2018 for everyone on the team and

  • Exporting Spanned Markers

With regular, single-frame markers, I am used to using the Export Markers>Text function to create a txt file that can be imported into columns in Microsoft Excel. The data exported includes Marker #, Name, TC, track, and comment. However, with spanned markers, when I use the Export function, the file generated doesn't include the END timecode

  • Re: Avid timeline refresh - GPU vs. RAM?

Thanks! The CPU check was good call. On Mac Activity Monitor, my Avid CPU usage when basically idle is about 7-15%. My CPU usage when playing back the timeline is about 170%-185%, but when actually manipulating the timeline/making edits etc., it has gotten up to over 300%, which can't be good. Keep in mind I have dual CPUs so I'm guessing maxing

  • Re: Avid timeline refresh - GPU vs. RAM?

Thanks. I did a test, and I'm not sure disk I/O is the issue here, as I am cutting offline at DNxHD 36 and running to a Lacie Quadra via USB 3.0 external for media. Read & write is testing at 188-190 MB/s which should be more than enough to cover the 36 MBps requirements of the codec. I do have the option of moving the media to my internal Raid

  • Avid timeline refresh - GPU vs. RAM?

I'm running Avid MC 8.3 on a MacPro 5,1 12-core (24 GB RAM) under Mavericks (an old workhorse!). My GPU is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 680. I'm generally happy with the performance of the software on this machine: render, import, and export times are good. But looking to improve the speed and efficiency of moving around/working in a sequence timeline

  • Problem importing P2 Proxy Media from Panasonic Varicam 35

I'm working on a production that's shooting with the new Panasonic Varicam 35. This camera creates both RAW files, and simultaneously a set of HD Proxy files which are saved in a P2 file structure. The idea is to use this second set of files for offline editing, eliminating the need for a Resolve workflow with the RAW files. I have a lot of
