Neither Streamclip or Avid will recognise Xvid in an AVI container so you're stuck with Sorensen. As for an intermediate format, use Gspot to find out the bitrate of the Xvid. My guess is it will less than 2Mbs so going to the Avid DV codec (25Mbs) will safely preserve the existing quality. Any greater that DV will be a waste of space.

I just did a little test. I exported a 2 minute sequence "same as source" that contained a variety of moving pictures. Then I exported 2 minutes of Title Tool black. Both lots of media were originally Meridien 10:1 but I think the argument still applies. 2 minutes of moving pix = 204Mb. 2 minutes of black = 50Mb. The codec is smart.

Been using ScriptSync here for a few years now and never hit a limit. We have often appended multiple clips to cover a full days shooting. My only tip is to use subclips (rather than master clips) that are free of any test tones or other garbage audio. These kinds of sound really screw up the Speech recognition process. Sometimes it takes a whole paragraph

So if the tracks are already in sync what would be the advantage of putting locators in the same position across all of them? I often use locators to identify like waveforms 9or sound events) on audio tracks so that i can quickly get them roughly in sync? What are you hoping to achieve?
