Modify frameflex in effects mode from the timeline. If you do it in source settings you are locked in to the same reframe for evey use of that clip. Plus, it will not show up in the timeline untill you refresh the sequence. (Don't remember where that command is in Avid 8.)

It makes no sense to use long GOP for editing. You place extra burden on the processor when you cut on a non-iframe as it has to reconstruct information from earlier and later frames you aren't directly using -- every single cut on every layer. I basically use Pat's method -- because I've never wanted to decode which steps can be re-doed and which will be ignored. (I use undo all the time.) That said, I've never considered pressing CTRL-D to be a huge amount of steps. Nor does it take very much time. And it's very safe and solid.

Linked Avid media and timelines translate pretty well into PPro via AAF -- assuming it has not been massively manipulated or effect-laden. That said. If you're doing :30 promos, exporting shouldn't take very long --especially if you're adding all the titles and effects in Premiere

Don't use Resolve. (I know that's not what you want to hear.) Transcode within Avid. While there are hoopes you can jump through to relink your Resolve files, you're just going to have to jump through them again when you link back to the originals. Philip -- in animatte it's the "acceleration" control at the top of the control window. Not as granular as some of the newer effects, maybe time for Avid to do an update, but it may get you where you need to be.

AFAIK multigroup only displays two tracks. The workaround is, once in the sequence, duplicate those tracks as many times as needed (in your case twice more) and use the dropdown to select which source tracks to display in each seqence track. (You usually do not want to select "Audio Follows Video.") Often, I end up just ignoring the multigroup
