Try edxporting from avid at different settings. When you do an export change the audio settings there-- before you export.
-
If you can ingest the footage and it plays in 'signle camera mode' you should be fine with mukticam mode.
-
If they don't have QuickTime you will probably have to transcode the video to a different container (from .move to whatever they can play). You won't be able to just transcode the audio only though. You also don't have to re-export the file from avid-- just convert it in a conversion program.

Have you tried selecting your audio tracks, then schoosing special from the drop down menu then selecting audio mixdown, or are you doing your mixdown a different way? What frame rate are you working in?
-
Have you installed the PDW-U1 Sony software? Have you been able to export before? Or is this the first time you have tried?
-
Try doing a CTRL+9 then clicking the format tab.
-
What frame rate)s) are you working in? Is the audio out, too? If it was out by 2 frames it would make more sense.

Yeah, that is too bad. It would be a nice feature request as a lot of people use different audio sources.

What about grouping the clips?
