    Co-Installation:

Before you install the Media Composer Academic software and Pro Tools Academic software, you need to be aware of the following co-installation limitation.

Note: If you want to install both Media Composer Academic and Pro Tools Academic on the same system, please check the ReadMe for Media Composer which can be found on the Media Composer 6.5 documentation page - prior to co-installing.

    Media Composer Academic FAQ

To help students better understand the academic program, and what they are eligible for, and how to install, we have created an extensive Q&A document  – Media Composer Academic Q&A – which outlines the academic program, support offerings and how students can take advantage of the 4 year free upgrade offer and if they are eligible for it.

    4 years of Free Upgrades:

Beginning back in September 30, 2009, students with academic versions of Media Composer software (versions 3.5  and higher who purchased on or / after March 1, 2009) qualify for complimentary upgrades for four years from the date of software activation.  Dongle based systems DO NOT qualify - the system MUST adhere to the above and be on SW licensing.

The four year upgrade promotional offer is located at http://www.avid.com/promos/studentupgrade/  and is ONLY available for Avid Media Composer v3.5 and higher Academic Student copies that were purchased and registered on or after March 1, 2009.   Institutional purchases or Teacher purchases DO NOT qualify for the 4 year upgrade promotion as we feel that schools and teachers make money teaching with the academic products.

Note:  With the release of Media Composer 6 Academic, Students will now receive Avid DVD, Avid FX and Sorenson Squeeze with the purchase.

What’s in the Box:  Media Composer Academic software boxed set comes with:

    • The fully functioning feature rich Avid Media Composer (download links provided)
    • Academic Letter with Validation Code which must be redeemed online at the Identit-E site www.identit-e.com/avid

If purchasing from the Avid Store, the academic custoemr you will receive a Validation Code with download links.  The student or teacher will then use this validation code to get their System & Activation ID (Once they pass the validation process on the Identit-E site www.identit-e.com/avid).

Note that Academic products should not be used for commerical use.

    Adding Hardware:

Students and institutions that wish to add Avid hardware to their Media Composer Academic license should reference the Avid Education Page – reseller list – located on the right navigation bar.  Avid offers academic pricing for Mojo DX and Nitris DX hardware as well as the ability to use 3rd party hardware now via our Open I/O.
