Hello,
I am in france and my english is bad, sorry...
I'd try to do the experience with xdcam proxy and AMA, but I only can consolidate in HD resolution.
I have a 5.01 version is it a problem ? I do all you present on the video but when I consolidate, it doesn't pass in mpeg4 (I am Ok whith the low resolution video in AMA windows)
Have you got an idea ?
Thank you
Patrick
It sounds like you don't have the PROAV folder option turned on for the XDCAM Disk. To enable this in a FAM (firewire) deck go to Maintenance Menu: Shift/Page-Up/Menu > M33 > ProAV Enable.
PDW-U1 set this in the U1 Utility > Setup > User Settings and uncheck "Hide PROAV folder."
thank you for your answer.
I have a PDWF30 and a PDWF70 and I dont find the Maintenance menu or the ProAV feature. ???
To get to the Maintenance menu I believe its a matter of holding down: Shift, Page Up and Menu at the same time. I'm not the expert on decks, so you might want to contact Sony Support on this.
I have the same problem, I followed the tutorial exactly but consolidating the AMA files from XDCAM HD 50Mbits to the hard drive does not convert it to proxy with high quality audio, instead it remains the same as before. I've enabled the Proav folder like mentioned and unchecked the appropriate option in the U1 Utility. Any more advice please?

What frame rate is the disk? This does not work with 720p/59.94 because the proxy clips are actually 29.97 and don't match the high res clips.
The disk is 1080p/23.976
For me I work with 1080/50i because I am in europe.
and it doesn't work.
thank's
Bob, we have the option of switching our shooting format for our shoot starting today. What fps would allow AMA to consolidate the proxy media? 59.97? 60? 29.97? 30?
The only format I know this will not work with is 720p/59.94. The reason is the proxy clip is 29.97 and is not the same as the high res media.
I also believe this will not work if the clips are shot using Picture Cache Record Mode, Interval Record Mode, or VFR.
I'm going to be shooting 1080p @ 23.98 on Sony F800 and dubbing disc to disc on PDWF 1600 to have 1080i @ 59.94 disc masters. (has to do with network deliverables and budget) I'm then going to copy the 1080i disc to a hard drive using PDW-U1
We will then follow AMA workflow from the video using Avid 5.0.3. I should be good to go with this yes?
Anything in the camera/decks I should be aware?
Thanks Bob

How would the motion adapter effect grouped footage? Will I be able to play grouped 23.98 footage in a 1080i project?
Also what about my audio, as I will have a secondary audio I need to layin with my video
Thanks again Bob
I currently have all my cards copied onto a drive, originally from SxS cards.
However, when I try this process I can only get the full res media AMA linked or/and consolidated. Does this process only work straight from the card/disc?
