Hello all,
My client wants a digital file with H.264 compression and AC3 audio. This is for a feature film to be played out in another country.
Here are the only specs that I got. The master is a D5 23.98. The surround audio stems are on DA-88 and it needs to go to the following specs:
- H.264 HD
- 50 FPS
- progressive
What wrapper can make the H.264 file with AC3 audio?
Hello,
Try Matroska.
Udo
Thanks, I'm trying to use mkvmerge to wrap it. I am nervous about using a free app for a professional application.
Chris
You should ask your client which wrapper they need. MKV is supported by many "consumer" products/players (vlc, mplayer, some standalone players, etc.). But if they use some kind of playout-server you should definitaly ask what they exactly need!
Regards,
Most of mine are wrapped as quicktime movs
.ts would be more likely to serve for pro applications.. you can mux quite reliably with TSMuxer... (free...)
Thank you gentlemen. The client said the following were acceptable: MKV, M2TS, TS, AVI, MXF, MOV, MPG. I do not think that .mov supports ac3 audio. I'm doing OK with mkvmerge but I will also try TSMuxer. If any other ideas come up, please write back.
