What do you mean by "will not run"?  The Macbook Pro you describe would seem to be plenty of computer for Avid -- I am running 4.05 successfully on a slower machine...

Re: MC 4.0.2 will not run on my MacBook Pro

I'm running MC 4.0.5 on pretty well the same machine:  MacBook Pro, 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM.  I'm using Mac OS 10.6.2.

I have a few strange issues (no Workspace setting), but Avid works.  Maybe you should try uninstalling and reinstalling Avid.

Re: MC 4.0.2 will not run on my MacBook Pro

Thanks I have tried uninstalling and doing a reinstall still no luck. I guess my big issue is I am new to the MAC world, I I have been using Media Composer on PC for years with no issues. After the program has been installed all the icon does is flick once and than beeps. Is there anyway to see if there is a conflict of some sort?

    Thanks Larry

I did a full uninstall, and reinstalled and still not working. The software still just bounces once and than nothing. I have it working on my Sony (PC) laptop with no issues, so I know the upgrade on the dongle worked. Is this a MAC problem

This is very strange, because everything indicates that it should install and run properly on your computer. I'm going to ping a couple of other users on this...

You could try running "Repair Disk Permissions" from Disk Utility.  If that didn't help, I'd be looking at the OS as the root cause, and, if it were me, I'd do a clean install.

I'm told that the bouncing icon means something is conflicting with the start up routine, causing it to hang. The questions are: Do you have any other peripherals installed? What other hardware in the CPU? What other apps are installed?

I did a repair disk permissions, did not help. I have FInal Cut Pro installed on the Machine, no extra hardware. Is there anyway of finding out what is causing it to hang

The recommendation is first troubleshoot an OS conflict by uninstalling one more time, repair permissions on the mac and then reinstalling.
If that doesn't work, create a new OS user and try again.  See the Mac section of this procedure for setting permissions.
