Making waveforms larger in the timeline

    Hey Guys and Gals,

Im editing some sound that was recorded lower than usual.  As I'm trying to edit the VO, the waveform representation is really almost non existent, just 3 flat lines.  Is there a way to scale or expand the waveform in the sequence window to have a better representation.  In Sound Forge, its a simple zoom in.  Any ideas from some fellow avid peeps?

    Thanks

Enlarge the track vertically. Not sure about DS, but in Media Composer, drag the bottom of the audio track selector down, or park on the track itself and CTRL + L will enlarge, CTRL + K will reduce.

In the File>User Preferences menu, go to the 'Level Meters' tab.

Select "Scale Waveform Display to Peak Level'.

    That should do it.

You can do the very same in DS.  Press the control (Ctrl) key and left click drag the audio track.  Ctrl+J reduces all tracks and Ctrl+L enlarges them.

Re: Making waveforms larger in the timeline

Hi! In DS you have a command: "Scale Waveform Display". You can add this to keyboard.

It's the same action if you make changes in Preference tab / Audio.

Personaly I add this shortcut on "Alt + W" Very usefull.

In Avid MC is applicable "hidden"Wink shortcut (not exactly, just not so popular). Ctr + Alt + K (or L) affect only waveforms, not track height! I like use for tracks with segment, imported from CD audio for example.

Re: Making waveforms larger in the timeline

    Hi there,

Been a while but I'm running into an issue where the ctrl+alt+L keys just start my track playing.

Trying to do multicam edit and I can't see the audio waveform. I know I can make the track bigger but I would really like to just expand the waveform height with in the track.

I don't mean raise the volume or zoom in on the track, I mean just widen the waveform within the audio track so it is more visible and easier to work with.

Does anyone have any input as to why this hot key set would not work and how to activate it properly?
