Making text appear to be written onto the screen can be easily done with the Paint Effect. However the text that you write with a mouse or even a graphic tablet can leave a lot to be desired.
This tutorial shows one method of using a standard Handwriting Font as your base for the effect.
Good Luck.......

Hello Douglas-The real purpose of this message is to thank you for your trouble. The second point is maybe of general interest. I am working with a Gigabyte 945 MB and only 2GB memory.all's well until I worked up to theTutorials requiring AvidFX and the like, and now I'm getting "insufficient Memory" the board will take 4GB so I'll upgrade, also my current Video Card is an GeForce 8400 GS which has been fine for SD to date, maybe that will have to go too !!..so an upgrade is not unexpected. It looks like I'm under spec'd for AvidFX etc.
Again this is merely a thank you note for your efforts, I edited with Studio 8 up to Studio V14 then Pinnacle Edition from 5.1 to Liquid 7.02 and now the Liquid to Avid "bundle".
I am a "forum and tutorial follower" from way back, and particularly like the "First and Last 100" Tutorials .

Hello Douglas,
Thanks for the tutorials, I find them very usefull. Regarding to this one, I have to apply the handwriting effect over a signature instead on a text layer, I have Charlie Chaplin signature and I want that appear with the mask trace. I have followed your tutorial, adding an image instead a text layer, but it's not working, I obtain the animation, but the key affect also to the brush used, so I get a black blur outlining Chapilin signature. It's there a tip for doing this correctly?
Thanks in advance
Javier
