I just installed macdrive 6 cause I was told I needed it on my PC to see this G-Drive mini I have in my hot little hands (with many important files no less). I have had macdrive 5 in the past with no problems, but with 6 I get a flag asking about each of my 40 lanshare drives and whether I have any mac information on these PC'ed drives. Many "cancels" later I have to turn Macdrive 6 off to keep it from doing this every 5 minutes. Is there a preference file I need to change...something obvious that wasn't in macdrive 5. Thanks in advance to all.
Cheers

you need MacDrive crossstripe to work with Unity. Was the version 5 the cross stripe edition? if you are using the regular mac drive it will keep doing that and be in danger of intializing the unity drives and erasing everything on them
You also might want to upgrade to MacDrive v7.

I notice there is a macdrive 7 and a macdrive 6 crossstripe..I take it I need the cross stripe version for my lanshare environs...but I am curious why the macdrive 5 version worked fine in the lanshare but 6 does not....is it possible there is a setting in 6 or am I destined to move to 6 cross stripe (OK I am cheap 6 was 50 bucks...cross stripe is 250...guess I try the demo version). Thanks for your help guys...off to download land.
CrossStripe is only required for "seeing" striped drives, e.g. striped SCSI arrays. Unity drives are not striped, not are they host-platform specific in their formatting. The older versions of MacDrive saw the "raw" drives in the Unity system, and didn't know what to do with them.
