Where is the rest of the slo-mo clip?

    Hi,

So I have 50fps Fuji footage brought in at this frame rate, transcoded, within a 25fps project.  The clip is now on the timeline, the Motion Editor opened, the clip promoted and the graph shows normal speed at 200%.  All good (I think).  When halving the speed, say 100%, the clip plays at the desired speed on the timeline, but the whole clip runs short.  Obviously, this is because the clip on the timeline is now only half as long as it needs to be.  But somehow I cannot figure out how to expand the clip's length so that all the clip in slo-mo can play.

    Please advise?

    Hi

Simply pull the tails out on the timeline using the trim, eventually it will reach the end.  Depending on where the 'In' point was you may need to pull out the head backwards too.

Ok, sussed it.  The audio remains normal while the video is in slo-mo, so you can only 'push out' the video track.  Out of interest, how to apply the timewarp/slo-mo facility to both video and audio tracks?

You have to do the audio separately using the audio suite tool which you'll find in the tools menu.  There is a time compression and expansion unit.

For audio, there are several ways. The simplest would be to go into Source Settings and change the clip's playback speed to Project Speed. That should slow down both picture and sound.

The other option is to use an audio plugin. That's a little convoluted. You can apply either a Time Shift or Time Compression/Expansion plugin to a clip in the timeline, but that will not alter its original duration, and only affect the portion that is in the timeline.

Alternatively, drag the source clip onto the AudioSuite tool, which will now switch to Master Clip mode. Apply the desired effect, tick the box that says load-after-render, and render the effect. This will create and load a new audio-only masterclip with a new duration, and you can use that in your sequence. Beware that, like, mixdowns, these do not reference the original file and cannot be automatically recreated or relinked.
