Someone here running Nexis with non-qualified switch?

earlier you could buy Netgear to a much cheaper price than the qualified Cisco's, but they are not longer available.

    Want a 24 port 10 gbit switch with 4 x 10 GE SFP+ uplink ports.

Someone here who is running this with success?

Is it right that Avid MC not longer is so sensitive over what switch you use?

I have talked to Avid engineering about this. They said that any switch, assuming the buffer memory is sufficient, should work.

I have used the Netgear switch and it was fine (5 clients. Multi stream DNX 145/220). Netgear has higher-end switches that will likely work (Pro-Safe managed). Dell has lower-end switches that is also approved (N2200).

Re: Someone here running Nexis with non-qualified switch?

I have plugged a Netgear switch into our Nexis... and survived. ;)  It was at the edge of our architecture though, connected 3 x 10Gbase-T clients and uplinked over 10Gb SFP+ to the core Dell S4810.

So not quite your use case, but actual use and all I can say is that it worked alright.

If you have a choice, definitely go for higher buffers, the lower-end Netgear 10GbE switches don't even mention buffers, that's not a good sign.

I will try this one in a couple of days

    https://e.huawei.com/en/products/enterprise-networking/switches/campus-switches/s5736-s-multi-ge

(maybe not so cheap but 30-40% cheaper than cisco's)

    will come back with result!
