When I try to run MC on WIndows 11 I get the error: this program is not supported on vm instances. Is anything wrong? My understanding is that MC is compatible with win 11 as of 17/12/21. I did run Jan version on wondows 10 but before going back ot it, I want to be sure. Btw, the 2021.12 is supposed to be compatible to win 11.
Hi Damian de Terranova,
It would help to know your system specifications. Which specific version of Media Composer are you using? Which specific operating system? Processor? Amount of RAM? Video card? Is your media linked, transcoded, or imported? Where is your media stored? Look at my profile at the bottom of this post for an example.
If you fill out this information in your profile, you won't have to type it out every time you need help.

Hi camoscato,
Thanks for the quick response. I updated my system info. This is happening in my system 1 that runs win11. It is a Surface Laptop studio that I am hoping to use to edit at 4K. The model has an I7 11370H (4 cores) and an RTX 3050 ti. I have not yet the source material, but I was hoping to import it. In any case, I think I found and acceptable solurtion on win11. The problem is that win 11 by default in this laptops comes with virtualization based security enabled. In win10, this was disabled simply disabling Hyper-V feature but that feature dioes not exist win11. The vistualization windows feature available is Windows Hipervisor Platform and disabling will not do it. Same with the Winbdows Security/Device Security/Core Isolation/Memory Integrity. Turning off this setting will not do either. The only thing that worked from me was opening the registry and manually updating to 0 the entry:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard\EnableVirtualizationBasedSecurity
0 means disable of course. This change needs a reboot.
Hi, thank you for posting the solution!
Damian Castro:I have not yet the source material, but I was hoping to import it.
You should look into link & transcode, as that usually goes faster than importing and the result is the same.
