Dupe Detection signalling clip duplication where there is none

    Hello

I posted this on the Media Composer Mac forum, but got no answers, so I thought I'd try my luck here as I'm working in a 24p Film project:

I have a query about Dupe Detection. Basically on a stringout sequence of autosynced subclips, I have Dupe Detection turned on and it's showing some duplication, exept there's no matching timecode, file names are different, they are different sections of audio and video! I've made sure the detection handles are at 0 frames. Does anyone know why this is happening?

It's a feature I'm working on that is shot on film and the lab is sending me Avid bins of the transcoded clips and I'm bringing the bin into Avid and then syncing with the sound rushes. Not sure if that's relevant or not.

    Cheers!

    Hi Jack,

If you don't get anywhere on the forum, you might want to try to create a support case: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/how_to/Support-Plan-Case-Creation

Might I also ask if your clips have a Tape Name?

Are you perhaps seeing overlapping Keykodes?

Hi Philip Yep each batch comes with a Tape name, the format being (project initials)001, (project initials)002 etc. So each batch, which is usually a days worth of rushes, has the same Tape name. It seems to be mainly on stringout sequences where two different Tape names covered the same date. On sequences where a day's material all comes under one Tape name then there is no Dupe Detection. What's weird though is that I sent a sequence to another computer with another Avid (running the same version as me) and the coloured lines didn't appear. Jack

    Hi

I've opened the Keycode column on the original bin of rushes and there is nothing there, so not sure about that. Seems the like the lab haven't sent the rushes with keycodes.

    Thanks

    Jack
