Posted initaially in PC forum as OP was having same problem, but no answers thus far.
I'm stumped. In exploring Media Composer | First, I accidentally deleted or removed all columns in Source Browser in Text View. Now nothing appears in Text View (Frame View works as expected; I can see media icons) and no way to restore columns-I've right-clicked all over the interface, nada.
Tried trashing any settings file I could find. Updated MCF to 2020.12 from 2020.6; no change. I suspect it's a user setting, and I'd try to make a new User, but can't find how to do that, either, there doesn't seem to be the usual drop-down menu for Users.
Any thoughts? Thx.
Hi Chris,
The settings should be in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Avid Media Composer

Hi, RalphC, thanks for the response. I'm on a Mac. Would you be referring to:
Macintosh HD>Users>Shared>AvidMediaComposer>AvidUsers>MC1?
I see a setting file there with my email address as the user name, which is the one that loads when I open a project, no opportunity to pick a different user, and no way to change it or make a new one in the Avid application. Maybe with MC First that is not an option?
Within thie user folder inside the MC1 folder there is: MarqueeUserFiles folder (empty), a settings.xml file with my email address, an .ave file with my email addfress, MCState and Media Tool.avb.
Which setting(s) file(s) should I delete to clear the problem I described having in the Browser (no columns in Text view)?
Assuming no one know the answer to this, at this point, I would like to escalate it to Avid Support. But can I do this for a "free" Avid application?
thanks,
Chris
I have solved this issue, sort-of. I backed up, then deleted my Settings.xml file in Shared-Avid Media Composer-Avid Users-MC1 folder (on a Mac).
Upon re-launching MC First, a new settings file was created, and the Source Browser again showed columns in Text View. But I had to rebulid all my settings as there doesn't seem to be a way to import settings.
I think this is possibly a bug, in that if you delete all columns by right-clicking on any column and deselecting all, you cannot get them back.
Now, if I could just get Quad Split to work in Multicam in the source monitor...
