Steps:
1. Create new Title+ title
2. Add a new text layer (layer 1)
3. Select single text item from the block of text
4. Try to change face color from effects window palate - double click on color swatch.
5. Color changes. Great! Let's try that again...
6. Select another text item and attempt to change color on its face.
7. Select (double click on color swatch) in the floating palate.
8. At this point, either the color does change or nothing happens. BUT NOW... trying to close any window or use any function becomes impossible. All functionality is greyed out.
9. Only way to move forward is to force quit.
Observed:
If I try changing the face color from the Effects control window, that seems to work. I was able to make several color changes before trying to use the color control in the floating palate. I notice that once the system locks up, the cursor appears as the color dropper icon when I hover it over the active effects control window or record side widow. It will display active color information in the small color info window as you move the cursor around, but double clicking doesn't affect any change. Nothing takes.
Expected:
Color controls should work from whichever control set is being used... the effects window or the floating palate.
Notes:
I've observed this problem with the Title+ tool since its introduction. I don't know if it's something specific to my operating system, or if it's related to the controls being split and/or duplicated across two windows. Nevertheless, it seems to have persisted across the most recent builds.
I gotta add that despite this issue, the tool does seem a little snappier. And many thanks to the team for adding a very clear and easy way of centering the text block horizontally and vertically. Slowly but surely, the tool is getting there.
Hi mcdannyj,
I started a support case (04029334) so we can investigate this bug.

I reported this in an early version but thought it was fixed. Yesterday I had the same issue when demoing to students. MC 2020.8. Mac OS 10.14.6. Showing how to create a gradient. After a few double-clicks the system locked up, as I reported some time back.

Ive experienced the same bug multiple times in a day on MC 2020.10. It happened to me whilst changing colour of the backgeround and also whilst changing text colour. MC doesn't crash but you can't click on anything or do anything so requires a shutdowna and doesn't save the work.
Hi Pip Heart,
It looks like the official case for this (04029334) was closed based on feedback from a customer. Are you saying that the bug is still happening for you? Are you able to test on 2020.12 at all? I'd be curious to know if it behaves better for you.
Please let me know what you think. You can post here, or email me at Keith.Gerrard@Avid.com.
Thanks
~Keith
Searching for this thread - looks about right. I thought this had been nailed but today I was teaching, added a T+ effect and drew a rectangle. Used the colour bucket to change the colour and lo and behold! Eveything locked up as has been described many times. Had to Force Quit. MC 2022.4, iMac (64GB RAM), Catalina. Avid - just look at the number of posts on T+ - and that's only from those who know about this list or actually bother to post. Throw it out and pay for NewBlue Titler again (I never thought I'd say that).
I'll jump in and note that I also crash when changing title colors. The function seems to work (the color changes) but then no windows or buttons can be used (I can't exit Titler+ or load a clip, etc) and it becomes very sluggish. With no options, I have to force-quit.
Avid 2022.7, Monterey 12.3.1, M1Post
Still seeing this with MC 2021.4 (at a university - hard to get IT to do updates). 2017 iMacs, 64GB RAM. Monterey (latest iteration). Every session, a few students get the lockup when changing a colour. I advise doing a 'Save All' before attempting to change a colour.
I have had this issue and had reported it as a bug as well
