I am exporting QuickTime files, same as source, from Avid. When I imported the QuickTimes into Compressor I noticed that the timecode track is no longer at 01:00:00:00; rather, it is defaulting to 00:00:00:00.
I have confirmed that the original TC track is indeed at 01:00:00:00. Cannot find any setting that would reset it to 00:00:00:00.
Using Media Composer 2018.12.7 on Mac. Is this a bug in the software?
Thanks.
- Bob
** Update: Looking at TC in QT Pro, it appears the TC track is accurate; problem may be in Compressor v4.4.4.
Hello Bob,
Is that version of Compressor the latest? I'll download Compressor to my computer later this morning as I can only get the latest I presume your also on the latest version from Apple. Did you export a QuickTime movie or reference? What were your frame rate and compression. I can double check and test here then report back to you.
Kind regards,
Leo
Dear Bob,
I've had an issue logging into Appstore, so apologies in my delay. I needed to reset my passwordto gain access even though it worked previous. I've just downloaded the latest APPLE COMPRESSOR. I exported a Quicktime Apple Pro Res from my edit timeline from Avid Media Composer and the correct timecode came across 01:00:00:00. I'll test later this morning with SAS Same As Source from Avid then report back.
I am on Media Composer latest 2019.9 and using the latest Apple Compressor 4.4.5 on OSX Mojave 10.14.6. I made a Quicktime PRORES 422 HQ from Da Vinci Resolve.
With-in Avid Media Composer I made a new project 1280x720 23.98. I cut the video clip PRO RES 422 HQ onto the Avid timeline. I did two tests defualt starting tiemcode of my sequence as 01:00:00:00 and another as 02:00:00:00.
I then exported Quicktime Movie, and set same as source audio and video as it's a stereo audio clip left/right and un-checked use AVID Codecs.
I opened each video file which were exported from Media Composer and both show the start timecode as 01 and 02.
Have you tried another version maybe 1 version back of Media Composer to see if the same whereby the tiemcode is not reading in Apple Compressor?
Kind regards.
