Sometimes when I'm clicking around quickly on the timeline I do something that causes my video tracks to double up. ie: the V3 track doubles up as if I had stepped into the track. But I can't collapse the track. And adding new tracks they also appear doubled up.
I've also recently switched from Mac to Windows 10 so I'm a PC newbie. I've been editing on Avid since the mid-90s but this is my first PC. Any help?

Thanks!

I suspect you've accidently double-clicked on a clip on the track which expands nested effects into sub layers on the timeline. If you just double-click again, it should collapse the sub layers back to the single track.
No that did not work... Could not get anything to work. tech support suggested I create new user profile - that worked but what a hassle to reset all my customizations. And does that mean it's a bug? Or a feature? haha...
I came across this whilst trying to find a solution to the same problem, so although this was a long time ago I'll post a reply in case it helps someone else.
What fixed it for me was clicking to bring up the timeline menu (icon bottom-left) and selecting "Default Setup".

Yes a new user will default to the default setup so thats a smarter way to do it.
But even if you need to make a new user its possible to graft across old settings instead of remaking them. You just need to avoid bring across any "duf" settings!
