Hey guys,
I am working as an assistant editor on a series of film projects. One of my duties is preparing Quality Check sequences for the CG/Sound/VFX departments etc. Up until recently, we were using MXF files to do the Quality Check, but now we've changed the workflow around and aim to use TIFF image sequence (which we use to create the DCP's for cinema screenings). They are done in YUV color space. However, I am having trouble importing/linking the TIFF image sequence into Avid and was also told by the previous assistant editor that it is not possible, which I struggle to believe?
So, does Avid disslike Tiff images really badly, or just requires a plugin? Or is the issue with the color space being YUV ? Any help would be appreciated.
Tradiitonal File->Import Media supports sequential files. Not sure about AMA.
You may not be happy watching the YUV files unless you have a monitor or projector that is set up for displaying YUV. Or you could add a LUT tp either the clip or the monitoring chain.
But first: what kind of troubles are you experiencing?
Hey,
yes sorry, I was not very clear, importing does work but not the AMA link, which we would prefer to use. Have no problems linking to DPX sequences by simply selecting the first file and clicling link, but when I try the same with TIFF images it simply links to that one image and does not recognise the rest as a sequence. There isnt an option to automatically recognise sequential files as there is in the Import options. (We are using Avid 8)
Could there be an issue in the naming conventions? An example of how our TIFF's are named:
NEW-MAN_20180313_g16_VFX_00000086112.tiff (last number code is the frame number)
and example of how our DPX files are named:
000071_0995248_0995686_VFX01_V01_0995248 (these come from the VFX department, last code is also a code for frame number)
sorry for confusion.
Kestiu:but when I try the same with TIFF images it simply links to that one image and does not recognise the rest as a sequence.
Did you figure this out? I'm having the same issue.
