Yes, you download it from Avid.com - actually, you can even do it right now before you purchase.  Download the trial version.

Then, when you purchase, all you need to do the next time you open the software is input the activation code you get.

A perpetual license includes support for one year.  That eBay posting says that support is valid until December 31, 2017.

So, after December 31, you'd buy another year of support at $299.

Overall, IF the seller is being accurate and truthful, it actually seems like a good deal.

Yes, here is the FAQ.

The eBay listing says that the seller intends to take care of the transfer process.

Here's how the perpetual license with annual support works.

At retail - you buy the license for $1299.  It includes the first year of annual support, including all upgrades.  To continue with support, you pay $299 per additional year.  Otherwise, you can no longer upgrade the software.

From this eBay seller (if all is accurate and the seller is honest) - you buy the license for $700.  It IS a perpetual license, with the first year of support (which already started in January, so you don't get a full year - you pay $299 to get the next year, just like retail).  The seller completes the transfer form - there is a $20 transfer fee, whether you pay it or the seller pays it.  To continue support, you pay $299 per additional year.  Otherwise, you can no longer upgrade the software.

It's the same thing - in both cases, the perpetual license has a year of support and upgrades.  From the eBay seller, that year already started in January, so you get only what remains in that first year.  However, if everyone's being honest and accurate, this is worth it because of the price difference - equal to another two years of support.

Also, retail, the license would be software-activated online.  To move computers, you deactivate on one, and activate on thie other.  From the eBay seller, it's a dongle.  To move computers, you move the dongle.

Its a long time since I organised a transfer for someone, and I remember the fee being $200.  If it is $20 then it is not too bad anyway.

Thanks Marianna - just to clarify, for hardware being a tad more to transfer - do you mean a dongle?  Or more like things like NEXIS, DNxIO boxes, and so forth?

No i mean like a DNxIO, DNxIQ, NEXIS etc.....

Dongles would be part of the software and not consiered hardware.
