Hi, we have a problem that has persisted for months and I've just got around to trying to fix.
Sequences we export - either QT ref or Same as Source - always show up with white sections where there should be footage. This seems to happen with Fs7 XAVC footage.
We have just updated our suites to Win 10 (clean install) and the latest version of Avid, and I had hoped this would fix this problem but it hasn't. We're on the correct version of quicktime, Quadro GPUs, so I don't know where the problem is turning up. We can workaround by doing a mixdown but it's not ideal.
Sometimes quicktime reports that it needs additional components to play back the media, but then it takes you to a general download page without specifying what itt's missing. I just tried the DivX player but this had the effect of breaking Avid by overwriting a .DLL so now I have to reinstall. For this reason I don't want to just try all the components.
Anyone else having this problem?
Is that XAVC-L footage? MC can't do QT-REF to AMA linked material and I didn't think it could do SAS to XAVC-L yet but I may be on the wrong track here because I would have thought that mc would have complained in the first case so maybe something else is going on.

Hi, no it's XAVC-I. It also has the same problem with doing a same-as-source export - the only way to get it to work is either a mixdown or force it to export to DNXHD. The problem with this is that I find a lot of banding on flat areas with Fs7 footage unless it's kept as 10bit, (currently it's consolidated rather than transcoded into Avid) so that means every sequence being exported as DNXHD185x - big files!
I don't have any XAVC-I material but I created some from some GoPro 1080p23.98 footage and the AMA Export (I do have the Sony 3.5 plugin for my X70 camera). At any rate, I AMA linked to the XAVC-I created this way, created a simple sequence with this one AMA clip and did a QT Export SAS with Audio + Video. I then AMA linked to the MOV file created by the Export and AMA linked to it. It came in fine and reports AVC-Intra codec...
QT Ref Export failed telling me that I can't QT Ref Export AMA-linked material... no surprise.
Maybe I'm not following, Dan so pardon me if I'm off track. If I'm on-track, how about trying what I did with your material to see if XAVC-I generated by AMA Export behaves differently for you...
