Error Messages - Avid Bin Indexer & Avid Search Service have "stopped working"

    Hi,

I have a recent install of MC 8.3 (Windows 7 Pro) and am getting these error messages when I start MC:

"Avid Bin Indexer has stopped working"

"Avid Search Service has stopped working"

I've just been hitting "Close Program" and Avid seems to be working fine but I'm no fan of error messages!

Anyone have any idea how concerned I should be about this and if there's a fix? Can't find anything recent on the forums (last mention is from back in 2011).

Appreciate any help anyone out there can give!

    Cheers,
    M

In the projects folder, there is a "SearchData" folder. It contains a file called "_SearchDB_". When this file gets corrupt it can cause the Bin Indexer to stop functioning correctly. Delete it and Avid will rebuild the file when you open the project.

    Hi Dom,

Greatly appreciate your help on this but sadly I'm still getting the error message despite deleting the _SeachDB_ in each project's SearchData folder.

As far as you know is it just the Projects folder in C:/Users/ etc. or is there another projects folder somewhere?

Thanks again for any help you or anyone else out there can give me!

I am also getting the same errors and I don't know if its just me but I feel like it is taking avid a bit longer to fire up aswell. That file _SearchDB_ is inside every project you have created so I don't think just by deleting that one file it is going to fix things. Unforchantly it looks like there is no real fix right now. If you see the link below Avid is saying that those errors are due to something in Avid and Boris FX and that is beaing investigated.
