Latest version of MC to support the AVR75 and AVR 77 resolutions?

    Hi Guru's

Has anybody got a information which was the latest verion of MC to support the OMFI AVR 75 and 77 resolutions?

Believe it or not I have the request to move media from a powermac 9600/200 OS8 with MC 7.1 to an brand new MC 8.3.0 on an HP z420 with M8.3.0. Go figure...

I can manage the move through windows 2003 server which has appletalk support but a first test gives me a wrong format error and I'm not sure if the 64bit versions of mc actually support it.

    Anybody?

Last ABVB version was 7.x. MC8.x and later were for Meridien, and those do not support AVR. But I vaguely recall some versions of MC Adrenaline could read ABVB media. I think I have resurrected a AVR3s project on a Mac MCA 1.x or MCA 2.x back in 2007. I don't think any PC version of MC could ever do AVR.

    Thanks Job,

IS it possible for you to check if MC8.3.0 (or an older version) on a mac can play the media if I send you a sample?

I used to have media composer 2.7 with an adrenaline on pc and I somehow remember it could play the media but it's so long ago I'm not sure.

I (or more accuratly, my partner) still has a 2.8 in use every day... she's a beliver in the "if it is not broken" theory...

I could give it a try on her machine (windoze something / xw8200) if you haeva small download...

    Thanks Dermot,

I was just able to test on a HP XW8600 win XP pro 32 MC 3.5.9 and guess what. Media shows up fine. (At least my memory is not completely gone). So I can transcode to MXF on that machine and then move the media to MC 8.3.0.

But this leaves open when support for the AVR formats stopped. Was it when we moved 64 bit?

I'm pretty sure it must be somewhere hidden in a document but I can't find it.

    So Anybody? Avid?

    If i say: "Please?"Wink

Hi Jeroen, Do you have a small sample. I can try it then with 5.5.5 and Adrenaline on a Mac.

    Hi Andrew,

Yes I can supply some small OMFI files. Just let me know where to send them.  The same email address I already have?

I'm hoping I'll be able to try on a pc 5.5.5 soon as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi Andrew,

Haven't had the time to take this thing forward until now.

The AVR compatibilty was indeed dropped when we went 64 bit... so back to 5.5 to find out that all the audio is offline.

And guess what. All the audio isn't AIFF but SD2... Sound designer was never supported on PC. There are free converters and I have succesfully tried one that converts the OMF's to WAV's but that doesn't fix the way back to restoring the projects.

It seems MC 5.5 on MAC should do it as there quicktime supports SD2. More testing to do.

Andrew, After removing a lot of dust I powered up an old G4 OS 10.4.11. Going to try to install MC 3.1.3 on that but might take you up on that offer to test a sample as my MC 8.3 dongle won't activate it anymore. GRRR.

I see a virtual nerish hackintosh starting up soon....

A few links to possibly usefull information.

    Avid KB SD2 + Protools 10.3.6

I have PT 10.3.6 on a Mac here if it is helpfull.  Research shows SD2 files were rather fragile and likely to suffer header damage.
