BCC 8.1 conflicting with BCC lite. Possible issues with MC 8.3

I just upgraded from 6.5 to 8.3. Along with the installation, grabbed the BCC lite package that is offered, as I thought it would add additional filters to my collection. I have BCC 8.1 and know it works with 8.0 and up, but in installing the lite package seems to have wiped all the effects from 8.1 from my effects panel. When I ran the BCC 8.1 installer again, it recognized that my computer is registered, so i don't know if its wiped, or if its in conflict with the lite codecs and not showing up. Has anyone else experienced this when upgrading?

Re: BCC 8.1 conflicting with BCC lite. Possible issues with MC 8.3

    Hi Awise,

In late October last year, I bought the Boris Continuum Unit "Image Restoration" for removing dead pixels. Installing this BCC unit together with the BCC Lite unit that comes with a subcription was not possible. I tried all kind of things, but it didn't work out. It was one or the other.

I mailed Boris FX about this, and they wrote the following to me: "Unfortunately there is no way to install both AVX lite and another BCC product successfully".

So, it has nothing to do with upgrading. I was on Avid Media Composer 8.2.0.35085.

    Hope this helps!

Were you able to successfully uninstall the lite package and re-install your other Boris Continuum plug ins?

Yes, I was able to uninstall the lite package and re-install my Image Restoration Unit without any problems.

    awise:

BCC AVX Lite is a subset of BCC9 AVX. Multiple versions of BCC cannot coexist (by design in order to offer a forward migration of projects that use the plugins etc.) and so BCC8 AVX and BCC Lite (BCC9 AVX) cannot coexist. Someone else already posted the correct solution which is to uninstall Lite and re-install BCC8. As it happens BCC8 includes the BCC Lite effects. The BCC9 versions have a few enhancements (like the graphical browser and perhaps some optimizations) but the basic effects are there in BCC8
