I've searched the forums and haven't come up with an answer.
I inadvertantly deleted everything on my media drive. I used a data recovery tool and restored most of the media to an outboard drive. Now all my files are in the root of this outboard drive. I tried relinking a sequence and some media files from within Avid with no luck.
What am I missing?
Assuming you are talking about avid media, not quicktimes or other ama'd material--
Avid will not see files in the root. Put them into a subfolder with this structure drive:/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1 (or any other numeral)
But don't get your hopes too high. Video files are notoriously unrecoverable. Best of Luck
Thanks, that worked. I recovered about 80% of my video. Trying the data recovery tool a second time to aquire the critical files it missed the first time.
I really don't want to ask our CEO if I can shoot her again.

No, she might reciprocate
Glad it worked out so far.
