I bought and installed a Matrox MX02 Mini Max a few weeks ago. It works great, but I noticed the box is very hot to the touch. Is this normal?
I have a fantastic editing assistant. He stays by my side when I edit...doesn't talk too much...and thinks I'm a genius! Check him out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQVkYaaPO6g
Mine ran very hot and after an hour of running I would get flashes on my external screen. I used a fan to cool it down so I could finish my project.
I eventually got it exchanged and my new one is nowhere near as hot.
Which is the temperature? There is the utility for that.

George Angeludis: Which is the temperature? There is the utility for that.
George, sorry for my ignorance, but where do I find this utility? The Matrox box did not come with an installation disc--I downloaded the driver from their site. I'm not even sure where to access a Matrox help menu?
Mine runs barely warm to the touch - probably about blood heat.

I can grill a steak on mine! (Medium rare, with onions and mushrooms ) It's only cookin' when running Symphony. When Symphony is closed but my computer is on, it's warm as you describe. Since it's a brand new unit, I think I'll call Matrox tech support and ask them if this is normal.
I've just checked mine after a morning's 1080p25 work. As I said, maybe blood heat. It sounds like you got a lemon, Terry.
Mind you, I don't have MAX.
I have and it´s running at a temperature of about just below 50 degrees C normally , it´s allowed for temperatures up to over 90 degrees C
