hello I just got my brand new Symphony 6 crossgrade-

 Is it possible to  install on my laptop for now till I get my new video box built? Then run it off of either box as needed? Is that the purpose of the usb dongle key??

Sorry I assumed from the post heading that you already had a dongle.
Yes you can install as software activation and upgrade to a dongle later. With software activation you can still install on both Laptop and new system.  You just need to deactivate one and activate the other. You can do this as often as you like.

The Dongle (IMO) makes it much easier to flip back and forth between systems.  Upgrading SA to a Dongle costs approximately $300US.
