The Sony HVR-V1U records HDV, 23.98p, 1440x1080 in an advanced pulldown on regular ol' 29.97 HDV on both HDV tape or an external hard drive. FCP Legacy can capture and transcode this material into ProRes 422 in 23.98 by removing the pulldown as it is transcoding.
It would be great to be able to do the same thing, capture or ingest this material into any (appropriate) codec with the choice to transcode to full raster (when capturing DNxHD or ProRes).
As it stands now, when recording in this format, which we do frequently at Hollywood High School, we need to capture and transcode in FCP 7, then import into MC 6. We can't even do a fast import, because MC 6 does not play nicely with thin raster ProRes.

Avid has had the option to remove (standard) pulldown on NTSC sources for decades, but I don't think it is available in HD.
That said, I'd think you could simply change the Field Motion column for these clips in the bin. So you could capture in 29.97, then open the resulting bin with clips in a 23.976p project, change the field motion, then transcode to DNxHD (as 23.976).
Not sure if Field Motion detects advanced pulldown, but have you tried that?
