    Shapes moving

Has anybody noticed animatte and paint effect shapes just randomly moving around every so often when you change or render something else?

Like ill come back to an effect i havent touched in a while and the shape has just moved lower on its own...

    Re: Shapes moving

this has to be a bug - how is it that i roto something out with 3 shapes in a animatte effect, and i come back later and all 3 shapes, including their animation/tracking, are now WAY off the screen, but in the some positions relative to each other?

I know i didn't move it, or even touch that effect. Now im making mixdowns of every shot as i finish them because apparantly symphony cant handle this many layers of color correction.

somebody please explain to me why avid abandoned DS for this...

    Re: Shapes moving

I find tracking shapes is where I see the shifts you discribe.  I especially notice it when I borrow an ID blur I've done on a shot and I find the same shot used in the open or tease and when I apply the same effect sometimes I get the shift of everything.  IIRC if I redo the track it helps but I agree it's a pain and it seems like sometimes if I have to tweak the color on a shot with an ID blur when I rerender the blur effect the shape has shifted.  Sometimes it's involve with stacked tracked shapes which use to be a problem but seems to have been fixed but maybe there is still a bug there.  Use to be if you tracked a shape on V2 and then tried to track a shape on V3 the shape would sort of sling shot from where you placed it to a position with some offset.  With a little practice you anticipate the sling shot and postion with the offset in mind and get close but it was a pain.  That behavior has seemed to improve but I usually render the V2 layer first then address V3 etc...  Sometimes if V2 becomes unrendered I start to see those offset errors.  I'm seeing this on mac SNDX4.0.5 but I don't know if 5.5/6 act any different.

    Re: Shapes moving

Im on 5.0.3 - I'm glad im not the only one this has happened too...

Im talking about 4 or 5 or more tracked shapes on both animatte and paint effects per shot. I know its a lot, but they really shouldnt just randomly move after im done working on them.

And yea i know they havent officially abandoned DS - I'm just kind of venting because most of my clients have phased out their DS systems because they don't feel its worth it to keep them up to date. i would have loved a DS for this project, but you gotta make the most of what you have access too ;)
