yes! direct import from dvd would be very handy, just like the way liquid used to!
News flash! my old Avid Liquid Pro breakout box works with Avid Studio!!!
it output monitors perfectly, I have not tried to capture yet, Avid Studio sees the capture settings
you can set it to DV, MJPEG, MPEG2, capture,
*I will test everything ie capture/output and I will post my results
Cheers
It's Liquid's soul that lives there.
Should this not be in the Pinnacle forum? It seems of little interest here.
read the title of the post.
and?
jwrl: and?
+1
Tim, I think that John's "and?" has something to do with the fact that Avid Studio actually has its own Forum over in the (Avid) Pinnacle Forums.Try and imagine what would happen over there if, e.g. I went over and started a thread on either the Avid Studio, or the Avid Liquid Forums, "Surprised how GOOD Avid Media Composer NLE is!!!!"

I agree with John & Douglas; there's a forum for Avid Studio, and this isn't it.

Post them on the Avid Studio forum:

Hi all,
After some consultation, I'm opening this back up for a general discussion about the pros & cons of Avid Studio.
This is not a thread for testing different hardware and software configurations, and any posts along those lines will be deleted. If anyone wants to test Avid Studio and report how it works under different setups, they should do so on the Avid Studio forum linked to above.
ciao,Carl
Then the Title should have been: What MC misses, that is inside Avid Studio?
Of course, we have to consider for whom (customer) the particullar NLE is build. The users for Avid Studio will be very happy with the advanced NLE in to-days PC's.
MC is for another audience I think. Not better people, but users that demand other features that are maybe not in other NLE's, or different.
Speaking for myself: I think that I could do a very good editing "job" with Avid Studio now. But at the moment Liquid died, Studio was not a NLE that I was pleased with.
When Tim goes for Studio, he will be very happy. I'm curious for what kind of editing he will return to MC.
Carl,
Thank you for the restoration of this thread.
Tim IS an MC user...however, it never hurts to have a plan B.

As I said in the other thread on this topic, if I were to post about the excellence of Lightworks and how impressively the modern beta release works with the the 20-year-old series I Lightworks console would you tolerate that? If I were to start a thread on Adobe Encore as a DVD and BluRay authoring tool would that be seen as appropriate?
Arguing that Studio is an Avid product isn't relevant. So is Pro Tools, so is Sibelius, so is ProKeys. We don't see threads on those products here either.
Avid Studio is so much fun, the trim editor and editing methods are similar to MC and feels good to edit with, the media management is good to I like how with just 1 move you can just about find any media file you want on your whole system, very fast very easy, titile generator is good, background rendering that is switchable (while editing on/off) the default setting 'off while editing' feels really good
It feels like two great editing apps in one MC & Liquid, a downside no keyboard customization but the built in shortcuts are great anyway.
Avid Studio is a great app and at a great price it is worth every dollar and more.
Well done Avid keep up the great work, this software could have a great future I hope it sells well so avid can continue supporting it... if successful, keep an eye on this app in the future its potential could be limitless.
